Real handmade bread for local Liverpool Food for Thought Schools! How fantastic is that?
It is just really fantastic news after so much hard work by Homebaked Co-Operative Bakery in Anfield, Liverpool and FFT Ltd. - a pilot programme serving at least three or four schools to start with will enable Liverpool pupils to enjoy real bread made with real yeast and flour. Tom Lambeth, FFT's Catering Manager, has worked really hard on this project and our new Liverpool fruit and vegetable supplier, John Dickinson, have also agreed to pick up the 'piping hot bread' from Homebaked and deliver it to our schools with fruit and vegetables. So no more factory-made tasteless floppy bread for Liverpool pupils. We want Homebaked to supply us with thousands of loaves eventually and we thank them for really building their capacity to support local children. It is a great deal for everyone because it is not for profit and a really co-operative meeting of community-minded local sustainable business.....a really unique local development.
