On Saturday 15th.February forty-five catering staff from fifteen FFT schools attended a training day at Hope School with two Directors of FFT, former Headteachers, Pat Melia and Chris Kirk. This was followed by a wonderful meal at top Liverpool Restaurant,Pruno.
Items for discussion covered food waste, over production, the living wage campaign, our Soil Association Gold Standards for organic and sustainable produce, cooking skills and organic food costs to the impact of universal free school meals in September 2014.
Thanks have to go to all FFT Directors and Paula Anderson at Hope School for organising the excellent facilities at the school.
It has been suggested that Mike Carden and Tom Lambeth now organise, very soon, a similar seminar for all Headteachers about the impact of UFSM, the outcome of all capacity audits undertaken by Mike and Tom together with the exciting and challenging changes to service that will be necessary in many FFT schools if we are to cover effectively the increases in school meal uptake.
