Job Description

Catering Assistant

Grade 2, NJCJE SCP 10 – 15

Hours 15 per week, 38 weeks per year (pro rata)

Responsible to Cook/Catering Manager/Head Teacher

 

Purpose

Carry out duties as directed by the Cook and assist in the preparation and serving of meals and associated cleaning,

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist in food production including menu delivery, food preparation, portion control, presentation and service.

2. Assist in the cleaning of kitchen and kitchen equipment to ensure set hygiene standards are achieved.

3. To assist in the operation of the kitchen and perform all aspects of kitchen duties as directed by the Cook.

4. To assist in the maintenance of a high standard of hygiene, cleanliness and health and safety within the kitchen and associated areas, reporting any areas of concern to the Cook.

5. Assist the Cook in the delivery of promotional days and taster sessions.

6. To undertake any other such duties that is reasonably commensurate with the level of this post.

7. Comply with and follow St. Cecilia’s Infant School policies, including school Safeguarding policies and procedures and Equal Opportunities policy.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

To assist the Cook in the preparation and serving of meals and associated cleaning.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Assist with the preparation and serving of food to enable the Cook to prepare and serve meals on time
  • Clean kitchen surfaces, floors and equipment
  • To undertake any other such duties that is reasonably commensurate with the level of this post
